you have chosen wisely

This is a tattoo of King Arthur, which I drew for my cousin, to match one of Merlin that already existed.

It was tattooed by Lisa Vanin at Sunnyside Tattoos.

Ah yes.

bloomers and bikes

I designed and drew a poster for a spoken word and music performance which utilizes the bicycle as an instrument, via contact microphones and other means, and tells the history of the bike as a luxury good, factor in womens emancipation and suffrage and its role in changing history in general through liberating people.

The piece was conceived and is performed by Evalyn Parry. Evalyn is amazing, I have seen two previews, and the pieces of this piece are extremely engaging to say theleast; there is a lot of gold packed into this performance. Everyone should check this out. It's being performed on the 25th at Buddies. But then again, why not just read this informative poster?

postcards...

I've finished my design for a postcard (this is a rough!), a postcard that will be for sale at Cubeshops. Cubeshops sells very smart and modern household goods; all by Japanese designers. Everything there is innovative, the stapler that doesn't use staples, the pin that doesn't leave a hole in your walls.

The postcard, along with another I drew, will eventually be for sale.

Check the store out! It's at 11 Baldwin, just west of McCaul. www.cubeshops.com

SQUARE FOOT

Hey. I have a piece in AWOL gallery's square foot show. A lot of artists make art that is one foot by one foot large, and then all the pieces are tiled onto the walls of lower Ossinton theatre. Lower Ossington theatre is huge.

I would post a picture of my piece, but it was too big to scan and my camera has an awful auto-focus that makes everything blurry. Sorry dudes.

The show is Saturday, August 15 and starts at 7 pm. It's free. I know a lot of good artists who will be there. You should go!

Work in progress

Howdy.

These are two super-preliminary sketches for the comics series I talk about but never seem to be starting. The first pair are of Alexis McClaren and Nila Sengupta, respectively, and the second pair is of the Fukakusa twins, whose first names might change.

y'arr

I keep talking to the pirate(s) and doing illustration work for them. This is one for a bike wash on June 13th. The bike pirates are a totally rad collective of volunteers; they teach you how to fix your bike, and they have great politics. Considering I had to get this flyer done in under two hours, I'd say it's pretty darn good. Please pretend that the dark areas are darker.

The pirates can be found here http://bikepirates.com/

100 prints

Howdy.
A print of mine, Subtle Body, will be up for auction at Open Studio's Annual 100 Prints auction. 100 prints is an annual fundraiser for Open Studio, the printmaking studio of 401 Richmond, and features 100 juried works by artists who have donated prints to raise funds for the gallery.

The event takes place May 13, the preview is from 6 to 7 pm, and there will be awards announced for several of the prints at 7pm.

You can read more info here, http://www.openstudio.on.ca/100P2009.html

A friend of mine, Evy Harevan, works with WASH, Women's Alternative Sexual Health, and asked me to make them a logo. WASH is an organization which increases awareness and understanding of women's sexual and reproductive health. I drew two logos, and Evy combined the best parts of them to create the final version. If it's totally unclear, this is a uterus, with a face in profile inlay.

9 layer screenprint. Finally.

A SHOW!

Teresa Aversa and Michelle Galletta, both printmakers, have organized a show, Honorary Catholic, opening March 19 at Board of Directors.

The Gallery is at 1080 Queen Street West, the show runs from the 19th to the 29th, the reception is the 19th from 6 to 9 PM.

The show looks at religious kitsch, the commoditization of religion and the show is going to operate like a mini sale. There will be a lot of Catholic paraphernalia for sale, most around ten dollars, nothing over one hundred dollars.

Be there.

COMICS!

I keep talking about this comic I'm doing for B' Mo Crazy. It's done. I need to make a cover though.

It's being included in the lyrics, each page is based on a song on the disc, so there are sixteen pages. I'm selling copies of the comic by itself on thursday at OCAD.

Here are two of the pages.

SH - SH -SH -SHOWTIME!

So, my friend Nic Carlino is in a fourth year sculpture and installation show at InterAccess, at 9 Ossington avenue. The opening is March 5, 7-10 PM, the show runs til the 22nd.

Nic's work is really cool. He's been working (nonstop everday for a few months) around the theme of space, and, without giving too much away, the work is amazing, the attention to detail is awesome and everything is thematically coherent yet diverse in media.

GO!

!!!ZINE FAIR!!!

Yo, so Alicia Nauta is throwing this zine fair, it's gonna be crazy.

March 5, from around 11-5, in the front lobby of OCAD, 100 McCaul...

I'm gonna have a bunch of new stuff; stickers, some shirts, maybe prints, and hopefully, a zine version of the comic I'm working on for BMO crazy. They're this insane rap duo...totally insane. LINK! http://www.myspace.com/bmocrazy

So I'm doing this comic that's part of the lyric book...It's pretty funny, even if you don't know the songs. Wait for it!

stickers!!!

I made these stickers for my text and image class as a kind of anti-veg propaganda. I thought it was a neat idea. Before I get angry hate mail, they're satirical.

They're way shinier than they look.

eughhh!

So, a friend of mine is going to launch a site selling really cool, artist made t-shirts. I asked if I could be on board, he said yes, so I made this.

The pattern is a Japanese wave motif.

Word.
